It does. The latest version of True Order Edit (1.0.2) has a custom field for custom shipping amount along with any shipping options in your store already. We don't have a trial period because we didn't build our modules in a way to be "re-called", but I'd recommend checking out the screenshots on it's functionality in the PDF available on the product page under the "Documentation".

Yes, the customized session variable would be very helpful for our upcoming release. Have a developer email us if they want to discuss our use case.

keep up the good work and support.
Thanks, David

Thanks for spreading the word on Magento not being slow at all! It just needs some attention... :)
I created a list with 45+ tips on optimizing Magento performance to get it up to speed: http://www.gxjansen.com/101-ways-to-speed-up-your-magento-e-commerce-website.

I hope you find it useful. If you have any additional tips, let me know!

Hi guys,
Sounds like a great extension.
I have a client who needs to be able to edit the shipping amount as a textfield, i.e. by typing in a number, overriding any applicable shipping methods.. Does your module handle this scenario?
Also - do you have a trial period, or demo of this extension I can try?
If you could get back to me on this it would be fantastic :)

@evan

Lightspeed, with our 30 min install, will cache by default CMS, category, and product pages. However, you are allowed the capability to punch 'holes' into your site where you have dynamic content that you do not want cached.

For example, you would cache the entire cart page, then wrap the cart section in particular (because if its dynamic content) into "no cache" tags.

Essentially, depending on how much time you are willing to spend customizing your caching, you are able to cache/not cache whatever you want.

Comment on Pushing the limits of Rackspace’s Cloud Hosting for Magento by evan

just got off the phone again.

Rackspace confirmed(after talking to 5techs and the last one knew magento extremely well) that cloud servers is the best option bar none.
Ofcourse running cloud servers would mean youd have to know what ur doing in terms of setting things up which will be very time consuming at the beginning. It will also depend on how many servers you run and how you set them up eg you could run 1 server for php 1 for html, 1 for sql database, 1 as a proxy/varnish full page cacher and 1 for media (or use cloud files) or you could try all of them in just 1 server or you could let it auto scale etc etc.

Cloud server performance is much faster than cloud sites.

Cloud server CAN be cheaper but even at $150/mnth(basic cloud site price) youd be getting whopping specs and performance.

Another option ofcourse is to have magento hosted on Cloud Site and use Cloud server for Database. This will cost yet more money and really makes cloud sites redudant and silly option.

Even rackspace admit Cloud Servers is the best and fast option.

This is their own demo store all on cloud servers check performance for yourself.
http://174.143.182.185/index.php/

Needless to say with lightspeed it will run veryyy fast.

No, this isn't the same functionality built in to the new enterprise solution. It does cache pages for logged in users.

rackspace still dont know what to offer or what exactly they are able to offer.

Just got of the phone and online chat with them all confused.

didnt seem like cloud was a suitable option if blazing fast performance was warranted.........

Essentially this is the same functionality built in to the new enterprise solution right?

Have you considered also caching/preloading for logged in users?

magecache at etapcommerce does just that apparently. In addition for full page caches they also cache all categories and products etc thereby allowing logged in users fast access too.
